Fall Meeting

Diane Blanchard, President, called the meeting to order at 10:06 AM in Dobson’s community room. Jeff Falknor, Past President and Carolyn Morrison, Secretary were also present. Diane introduced Eileen Waite, a Dobson’s Insurance Representative who discussed available Flood Insurance. See attached for complete description. Diane introduced the next guest speaker, Dane Terrill from Flowerfield Enterprises, LLC. Dane briefly described Flowerfield Compost Tea. See attached for complete description.

Secretary, Carolyn Morrison, distributed minutes of the May 3, 2008 meeting. Jeff Falknor made one change in regards to the city of Coldwater dredging the mouth of the Sauk River. It should read: The city is looking into dredging out the mouth of the Sauk River. With this change, the minutes were approved.

Diane gave the Treasurer’s report in treasurers, Colleen Humphrey, absence. We have an ending balance as of October 11, 2008 of $2,846.80. The report was approved. See attached for a complete report.

Committee Reports:
Ann Marie Moore—website. Ann Marie reported that the website was near completion. The website is www.mlswa.org/NorthChain-241. It is hoped that this will allow better communication and information for members. See attached.
Special Reports:

Diane Blanchard announced the next Watershed Project Meeting is October 30th, 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Los Tequila’s.

Diane also reported that at the June 2008 Lake Board Meeting, Paul Hauser, engineer stated that the weed growth was very aggressive, but with a slow start due to the cold Spring weather. It was discussed that when applications for weeds are done, it is posted on the property owner’s site.

Old Business:Sediment at the Dam: Ben Wickerham was asked to look into dredging at the Hodunk Dam. He stated to one of our members that there is definitely buildup. This issue will be brought to the Drain Commissioners attention at the Watershed Project meeting on October 30.
Bus Tour on June 14, 2008-“Managing your shoreline for lake ecology” was attended by a few of our members. It was suggested that we get some of the speakers to talk to our lake association.

New Business:Diane will be attending the Lake & Stream Conference Oct 18, 2008 in Jackson. She will give a report at the May meeting.

It was suggested again that the spring and fall meetings need to be moved to dates when more of the lake residents are here. Jeff was going to look into the reasons why previous boards had set those dates. It was require by laws to be changed if the dates changed.
